About us

Pizza Oven Club grew out of years of designing and building Kiwi Pizza Ovens in New Zealand.

Today, we make the current Pizza Oven Club oven system ourselves in small batches at our Landsborough workshop on the Sunshine Coast. We cast the major refractory and cementitious components in moulds, finish them by hand and prepare each oven ourselves.

The product has evolved, but we still make it ourselves, test it and work directly with the customers who use it.

The people behind the oven

We both build the product and run the business. When you buy from Pizza Oven Club, you are dealing directly with the people who make it.

Paweł from Pizza Oven Club.

Paweł

Product design, production & customer support

Paweł has been developing and building wood-fired ovens for years. He works directly in production, leads much of the technical development of the oven, and has long been the main point of contact for Kiwi Pizza Oven customers in New Zealand.

He knows the product from both sides: how it is made and how customers actually build and use it.

Monika from Pizza Oven Club.

Production, marketing & business

Monika works directly in production alongside Paweł, casting and finishing the components that make up each oven.

She also looks after much of the marketing and business development, from how the product is positioned and sold to how Pizza Oven Club reaches customers in Australia.

Built from years of making ovens

Paweł during the early Kiwi Pizza Oven years in Christchurch.

Early Kiwi Pizza Ovens were built and finished in Christchurch. Building oven after oven showed us what mattered most: enough refractory mass to store heat, effective insulation to keep that heat in, and a construction method that could be repeated reliably.

Over time, we refined the materials, insulation and construction. The aim was not simply to make an oven hot enough for pizza, but one that would store enough heat to keep cooking as the temperature gradually falls.

That same principle sits behind the current Pizza Oven Club system.

Made by us, in small batches

Hand-cast components

The major refractory and cementitious components are cast by us in moulds, then finished and prepared by hand.

Small-batch production

We produce a small number of ovens each week, keeping production close to the people who design, build and support the product.

Built as one system

The dome, cooking floor, purpose-built base, insulation and outer shell are designed to work together as one complete oven system.

Where it began: Christchurch

These photos are from the years when Kiwi Pizza Oven was built in New Zealand. They show some of the hands-on work, testing and refinement behind the ovens that led to the system we make today.

The oven has evolved over the years, but the principle behind it has stayed the same: store heat in a well-insulated refractory oven so one firing can do much more than cook a few pizzas.
